Anne Echevarria

Freelance Trainer

Originally a secondary teacher and PGCE tutor, Anne has a long-standing interest in pedagogies that nurture oracy, creativity and metacognition. She offers Thinking Moves (TM) and Philosophy for Children and Communities (P4C) as part of her current work as a trainer and facilitator supporting schools and communities in the UK and the Netherlands. She has worked with many teams from nursery provision through to Higher Education, clown doctors to museums educators, community groups to BBC Learning - any group interested in exploring how best to develop a culture of dialogic enquiry, creative learning and reflective practice within their organisation, community or curriculum.  She is Philosopher in Residence for the North-East Primary Innovation Network, visiting lecturer in P4C on the Newcastle University PGCE programme and, as a qualified Early Years Educator and Montessori Trainer, also has experience of introducing TM and philosophical play to children aged 3-5. In her work with Diversity Role Models, a national anti-bullying charity, she developed expertise in using TM and philosophical enquiry to engage polarised groups in constructive dialogue—helping to bridge division and foster mutual understanding.  Alongside her work supporting social cohesion and school-community relationships, she is now integrating TM and P4C into her work with the North-East Prison Education service. Anne is the author of several publications, including Thinking Through School, a narrative-based enquiry into learning and thinking for 9-11 year olds, which won the National Education Resources Book of the Year award. She lives on the Northumberland coast with her wife and son.
