Chantelle MacLean

With over 12 years of experience as an international teacher in Shanghai, I have had the opportunity to work across a range of schools and curricula, shaping a dynamic and adaptable approach to education. I thrive in bilingual environments, where collaboration with co-teachers enriches both teaching practice and student learning. Through co-taught discovery lessons, I have seen firsthand how students become more engaged when they can explore ideas and express understanding in both languages.

I am particularly passionate about using Thinking Moves to support student voice and agency. These strategies empower learners, especially those who may lack confidence, to demonstrate their understanding in meaningful ways. By fostering metacognitive awareness, I help students reflect on their thinking and grow as independent learners. My work is driven by a belief in inclusive, reflective, and collaborative classrooms that nurture confident, capable communicators.
